Kink Meme

So how does this work?

1. Anonymously post a short prompt. It could be shippy, porny, weird, fluffy, angsty, gen, or whatever else your heart desires.

Remember that a short, open-ended prompt is easier to fill than something highly specific. E.g. "What if Buck and Eddie had exhibitionist sex at the gym?" is more likely to get a fill than "What if Buck and Eddie had sex at the gym, Buck came first, then someone walked in and they never spoke of it again. After a slow burn, they get together while Maddie is giving birth to her and Chimney's third child."

2. If you see a prompt that strikes your fancy, anonymously fill it. Your fill could be 200 words written straight into the comment box, or it could be a multi-part epic. Multiple fills for one prompt are not only acceptable, but awesome.

Note: Deanoning your fic, or posting it to your namespace AO3, Tumblr, Twitter, or any other account, is completely fine, but please wait a week or so to do so, so it can belong totally to the kink meme for a bit. Kink memes are not only for fic, they are also communities; we want to celebrate your fic that you made for this community for a bit before it's released into the wider world.

Second note: Deanoning is NOT required. Your fic can live as an anonymous fill for as long as you please. :)

3. If you post a prompt, try to fill one if you can!

4. Comment on things you're excited about and start discussions. The conversations can be the best part of being on a kink meme! And part of the benefit of being on Dreamwidth is that we are all completely anonymous, so you can deep discuss anything you please without shame.

5. Don't troll, wank, or start discourse. If you don't like a prompt/fill, scroll on past and post something you do like. Treat people well. Harassment will be deleted with prejudice. If you see someone treating people poorly, you can report it here.

Edit: Feel free to post prompts for RPF ships. Let's make sure to only prompt about actively famous people, not relatives or friends of famous people (unless they're famous in their own right), and avoid RPF prompts about real life minors.

Second Edit: Just a reminder to be careful to write out "omegaverse" or "alpha/beta/omega" instead of using the letter abbreviations, as it's a very nasty slur in some parts of the world.

Basic HTML is pretty easy! This is how you make words bold, italicized, underlined, bigger, smaller, etc. You use what are called "tags", and surround the words you want to be affected.

That's the raw HTML. When you post a comment, it will change the text. So when you post, the three HTML tags I'm using there would look:

Check and Mate

Eddie can't believe this is his breaking point. But then again, it makes about as much sense as anything else.

They've been dancing around this for weeks. Weeks where Buck goes to apartment showing after apartment showing, but somehow nothing is ever right (this may be partly Eddie's fault, though Eddie just thinks it's a coincidence that whenever Buck asks his opinion on a place, there's always something seriously wrong with it). Weeks where they've fallen into a routine – work, groceries, cooking, laundry, my turn to vacuum, your turn to scrub the toilet – that's so seamless it should scare him.

Weeks where they finally decided (and he can't remember which one of them suggested it first) that they might as well share the bed since neither of them was getting any younger and the couch wasn't comfortable for more than a couple of nights in a row. Saves on laundry, too, Buck had said, as if he were looking for more reasons, ones that didn't include I like waking up beside you.

Because even though Eddie's spent months denying it after I'm your renter turned his whole goddamn world upside down at the worst possible time, now that they're living in each other's back pockets he can't pretend any longer. He's given up, he's raising the white flag, he's peeled off the label he stuck to his forehead all these years ago. He once told Chim that tomorrow isn't promised to anybody, and since the night he found out Bobby was gone he's known it's past time he took his own advice.

Is he gay? Bisexual? Pansexual? He honestly doesn't need a new label, what does it fucking matter anyway when the only person he can see, the only one who lights him up like a Fourth of July fireworks display, is Evan Buckley. He's in love, and deep down he thinks – hopes – it's for the last time.

He's pretty sure – maybe – possibly – that Buck loves him too. But stepping across that line is terrifying, because what if he's wrong and this is all one-sided? What if they try and Eddie messes it all up, the way he has every other relationship he's ever had?

And yes, it occurs to him Buck may be thinking the exact same thing. Which would be hilarious if it didn't make him want to take another baseball bat to his room, because his most trusted confidante is the one person he can't talk to about this.

And so they dance. And take turns scrubbing the toilet. And wake up tangled together, though one of them always pretends to be asleep until the other can escape to the shower (Eddie's a master by now of the five-minute jerk off session, whether in bed or under a tepid stream of water. He wonders if Buck is too, and whenever he thinks about it he cuts his time by at least a minute).

And then one day Eddie gets back from his therapy session to find Buck screwing a fancy silver hook into the wall beside the kitchen door. He startles when Eddie walks in from the dining room, nearly dropping the final screw in the process.

“Oh, h-hey, Eddie. You're home earlier than I thought you'd be.”

“Traffic was normal for once,” Eddie murmurs. “What happened, did you finally buy that paella pan?”

Buck shakes his head, smiling as he drives the screw home. “Nope. Something better. I hope.”

And then he reaches into a bag on the counter, takes out a small clipboard with a pen attached on a string and places it on the hook.

“So, uh,” Buck says, “I was at Skylight Books last week, looking for that new book on Mars for Chris, and they had these little checklist notepads. Some of them were practical, like grocery lists or chore charts, but that's sort of boring and we don't really need them anyway, and some of them were more silly or fun, like affirmations or funny 'take a message' pads. I looked at them for a while but none of them really seemed to fit so I – uh, made my own.”

Eddie peers at the clipboard, where a simple but well-designed checklist offers praise for a variety of things, from 'finishing your homework' to 'changing the sheets' to 'being there when I needed you.'

Eddie looks up at Buck. “This is – all in Spanish.”

Buck rubs the back of his neck. “Yeah, that's the part that took me a while because my Spanish is pretty rusty. I might've asked Tía Pepa to proofread the first couple for me. Good thing she loves my conchas. She said she was happy to do it, but I had to thank her, you know?”

“First couple...”

“There are other sheets, because having only one might get boring. There's a compliments one, an apology one, and I'm working on one for checking in – how are you feeling, I've noticed you haven't been talking as much, that kind of thing. I thought they might help keep the conversation going between you and Christopher, and help you get back to practicing your Spanish at the same time.”

Eddie's surprised his hands are steady when he takes the clipboard off the hook and starts flipping through the pages.

Buck took the time to make these, in a language he doesn't speak well, for their family. Eddie feels sort of dizzy with it. He opens his mouth, realizes he had nothing to say that isn't I'm so fucking in love with you it's driving me crazy, then closes it.

Buck clears his throat. “I know they're sort of corny. If you don't think you'll use them, I can –”

Eddie looks him in the eye. “Buck.” Great, now his hands are actually shaking – but maybe that's okay. He can show Buck this, because Buck's always accepted every part of him.

He flips to one of the apology pages, then takes the pen, fills in the blank space after Me disculpo... and hands the clipboard to Buck.

A little line appears between Buck's eyebrows. Eddie wants to smooth it away with his thumb.

“Por haber tenido miedo.” Buck looks up, concern etching deeper lines into his brow. “What are you afraid of?”

Eddie takes a step closer and has the satisfaction of seeing Buck's eyes widen. “That's past tense, Buck.”

Buck's mouth quirks in a tentative smile as his expression clears, and oh, he's beautiful. “Okay. What were you afraid of, Eddie?” he asks softly.

“This,” Eddie says, finally stepping across that line as he reaches up to cup Buck's cheek in the palm of his hand. Buck closes his eyes and leans into it eagerly, making a tiny, broken sound that Eddie chases with his mouth.

“I want you to stop looking for apartments,” Eddie gasps when they break apart.

“I stopped looking a week ago,” Buck confesses, equally breathless. “I couldn't make myself go to one more showing. I didn't know how to tell you.”

Eddie laughs, burying his face in Buck's neck. “We're ridiculous.”

“Yeah, but we're both the same flavor of ridiculous.” He kisses Eddie again, and Eddie winds his arms around Buck's shoulders – Christ, his shoulders are ridiculous.

“We can get your stuff out of storage. Figure out what to keep. Maybe your couch is better –”

“It's not, yours is perfect. Maybe a chair or two. I don't care. It's just stuff.”

“Stay with us. With me?”

“I'd love to,” Buck murmurs. “I love you, Eddie.”

“Love you right back,” Eddie says, and when Buck's answering grin is brighter than all the fireworks in the world, he knows they've both found home.

Epilogue

“So,” Buck says late that night, his fingers tracing delicate patterns on Eddie's chest, making Eddie shiver. “This is going to sound like a weird question, but, uh – do you have a thing for me and clipboards?”

Eddie purses his lips. “Maybe? After I stopped lying to myself about you, I started thinking back to all the times you did stuff that drove everybody else up the wall.”

Buck's fingers still. “O-okay?”

“What I mean is, none of that stuff ever bothered me. I mean, Hen was borderline homicidal whenever you brought out a clipboard, and I just thought it was –” Eddie shrugs. “Cute. Not that I could admit that to myself at the time.”

“You thought it was cute,” Buck says, arching a brow.

“Yeah. I thought a lot of the things you did were cute. Also dorky. Goofy. Adorable,” he continues, squirming away as Buck's fingers start tickling his ribs. “Shit, don't make me laugh, Christopher's asleep.”

Buck's fingers dig in and he kisses him with intent. Eddie arches up under him; God, he's already getting hard again. But then, one of the things he's learned about himself in the last few hours is that he likes being under Evan Buckley. A lot.

“So you love me because I'm a big dork?” Buck asks when they finally come up for air.

“That's part of it,” Eddie admits, threading a hand through Buck's hair. “But there are a hundred other reasons.”

Buck ducks his head. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

Buck hauls himself up, kneeing his way between Eddie's legs and bracing himself above him. He leans in to nip at Eddie's chin, making him groan. “Even though I can't conjugate a Spanish verb to save my life?”

“Mmm, well, I'm not perfect at that either.” Eddie hooks a leg around Buck's hips and pulls him down until most of Buck's delicious weight is on him. “How about we practice conjugating together?”

Buck blows a raspberry in the juncture of Eddie's neck and shoulder. “Now who's a dork?”

“Repeat after me, yo estoy amando –”

“Siempre,” Buck murmurs, and if his pronunciation is a little off, well, they can work on that too.
